A brief history of eagle Island

Eagle Island is part of a small archipelago in east Penobscot Bay roughly two and a half miles off the west side of Deer Isle, Maine.  For the past two centuries Eagle has been home to the Quinn family as well as numerous other landowners and patrons.

Although the island’s population has fluctuated over the decades - ranging from multiple year round families, to at times, just one - Eagle holds the distinction of having residents living there year round for all of the 200 years since it first made the census in 1815.

Lifestyles and livelihoods have changed on the island along with the rest of the modern world but together with its storied past and wild beauty there is a timeless quality to Eagle Island so captivating that it keeps bringing people back year after year.
